About
Meet Joanna
Joanna is both The Boundary's OCD specialist and the first face new clients meet as our Intake Coordinator. She works with young adults (from starting their college experience through entering their 30s) experiencing anxiety and obsessive compulsive symptoms, including perfectionism and body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs). Clients come to Joanna because they’re struggling with overthinking, repetitive thoughts and behavior patterns, and a need-to-control that leaves them feeling out of control. She incorporates Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Habit Reversal Training (HRT), CBT, ACT, and DBT skills into her person-centered approach. In practice, this looks like helping clients to identify patterns feeding the anxiety/OCD cycle, integrate mindfulness and acceptance tools, and face their fears in manageable, yet growth-oriented ways. Joanna values showing up authentically in the therapy space: down-to-earth, genuine, and relatable. Her work is collaborative, warm, and values-driven. Clients can expect to process recent and real-time anxiety symptoms and stressors in session while learning and implementing practical tools to foster self-confidence and distress tolerance. Joanna strives to create a supportive space where clients can foster new ways of responding to their thoughts and feelings that put them in control of their lives, rather than anxiety. As an anxiety and OCD specialist, Joanna shows true compassion and understanding for the often difficult-to-talk-about fears and intrusive thoughts her clients can present with. In her spare time, Joanna can be found listening to Taylor Swift, cheering for the NY Islanders, and spending time with her family.
