About
Meet Shamarraa
Shamarraa is a rising clinical mental health counselor with experience in mindfulness meditation and leading group DBT therapy sessions in supportive spaces. She believes that well-being and mental health is often tied to the status of disadvantaged groups. She is particularly passionate about aiding individuals who come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and struggle with balancing cultural expectations and self. She strives to create a meaningful and effective environment for clients while maintaining an empowering therapeutic relationship between client and counselor. As a first generation African American woman, Shamarraa has experienced firsthand being apart of underprivileged groups and understands the delicate interplay this can have with mental health struggles. She is passionate about multiculturalism, understanding patterns, and improving one’s emotional regulation to mitigate conflict within. Shamarraa is supervised by Rebecca Brooks, LMHC, LPC. In her spare time, Shamarraa loves attending concerts and reading, as well as listening to music, traveling, and spending time with friends.
