FINDING YOUR STARTING POINT

Is this you?

  • You're tired of explaining your condition to people who don't get it.

  • Every new symptom sends your mind straight to the worst case.

  • You're grieving the energy, plans, or version of yourself you had before.

  • Appointments, tests, and waiting on results have taken over your calendar and your head.

  • You push through until you crash, then feel guilty for resting.

  • You're caring for someone who's sick and forgetting to care for yourself.

How we help

Living with a chronic illness can feel like a full-time job nobody trained you for: managing symptoms and appointments, living with uncertainty, and dealing with people who can't see what you're carrying. Therapy won't change your diagnosis, but it can change how much it runs your life.

Taylor Kallman, LMSW, works with women and young adults living with chronic illness and health anxiety, and draws on personal experience when it helps a client feel less alone. Maya Aguiling, MHC-I, brings experience supporting people through grief, loss, and caregiving, and helps clients make room for what illness has changed. Both use CBT, DBT skills, and psychodynamic therapy to help with anxiety, low mood, and the grief that often comes with a diagnosis.

In the first few sessions, you'll talk about your health history, what daily life looks like right now, and what support you have. Then you'll build a plan together. Sessions are by telehealth, so you can join from home, even on a low-energy day.

What it costs

Sessions are $200 with Taylor and $75 with Maya, a supervised clinician-in-training. Both accept Aetna. If you're paying privately, we send a superbill every month so you can use your out-of-network benefits, and many PPO plans pay back part of each session.

Frequently asked questions

Do you work with my specific condition?

We focus on how living with a condition affects your mood, relationships, work, and sense of self, whatever the diagnosis. Your therapist will want to learn how yours shows up for you.

What is health anxiety?

It's when worry about your health takes over: checking symptoms, searching online, needing reassurance, or avoiding doctors altogether. It's common with or without a diagnosis, and it responds well to CBT.

Can therapy help if my illness is physical?

Yes. Therapy works alongside your medical care. It helps with the stress, anxiety, grief, and burnout that come with managing a condition, which can make the rest of your care easier too.

Can you talk with my doctors?

With your written permission, your therapist can coordinate with your medical team so everyone is on the same page.

What if I need help right now?

If you're in crisis or worried about your safety, call 911 or call or text the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. It's free and available 24/7.
