FINDING YOUR STARTING POINT

Is this you?

  • Some feelings only make sense in your first language.

  • You're bicultural and carry two sets of expectations: your family's and your own.

  • You or your parents moved here, and the people around you don't quite get what that's like.

  • Talking about mental health wasn't something your family did.

  • You're balancing family responsibilities, cultural expectations, and the life you want to build.

  • You want a therapist who understands your culture without you having to explain it first.

How we help

Language carries memory and emotion. Many bilingual clients find that some things are easier to say in one language and almost impossible in another. In session, you can use whichever language feels right, and switch back and forth as much as you need.

Our bilingual clinicians each bring their own focus. Elene Garay, LMSW (Spanish), works with bicultural and immigrant clients, especially men carrying two sets of rules about what strength looks like. Andreah Moran, MHC-I (Spanish), is a first-generation Latina who supports young adults balancing family, culture, and their own goals. Vasilina Orlova, MHC-LP (Russian), brings a PhD in anthropology and specializes in trauma and OCD. Sylvia Zhang, MHC-I (Mandarin), especially welcomes Asian and immigrant clients and young adults who look fine from the outside but feel lost.

In the first few sessions, you'll talk about what brought you in, how culture and family shape what you're facing, and what you want to change. Sessions are by telehealth, so you can join from wherever feels most private.

What it costs

Sessions are $75 with our supervised clinicians-in-training (Andreah and Sylvia), $175 with Vasilina, and $200 with Elene. All four accept Aetna. If you're paying privately, we send a superbill every month so you can use your out-of-network benefits, and many PPO plans pay back part of each session.

Frequently asked questions

Which languages do you offer?

Spanish with Elene or Andreah, Russian with Vasilina, and Mandarin with Sylvia. All of them also see clients in English.

Can I switch between languages during a session?

Yes. Many bilingual clients move back and forth, and your therapist will follow your lead.

Can I do therapy fully in my first language?

Yes. You can work entirely in Spanish, Russian, or Mandarin with the clinician who speaks it. Ask during your free consult.

Will my therapist understand my culture?

Our bilingual clinicians bring cultural understanding along with the language, and some are first-generation themselves. You won't have to explain everything from scratch.

What if I need help right now?

If you're in crisis or worried about your safety, call 911 or call or text the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. It's free, available 24/7, and offers support in Spanish and interpretation in many other languages.
