Is this you?
You keep having the same argument, and neither of you feels heard.
You feel more like roommates or coworkers than partners.
Trust was broken, and you're trying to figure out whether and how to rebuild it.
A big change, like moving in, a baby, a new job, or a move, has thrown you off balance.
Intimacy or desire has faded, and it's hard to even bring up.
You're not sure whether to stay together, and you want to decide with a clear head.
How we help
Couples therapy isn't about deciding who's right. It's about understanding the pattern you get stuck in together, and learning new ways to talk, repair, and reconnect. Your therapist works for the relationship, not for either one of you.
Vera Johnson-Woodard, MHC-LP, uses the Gottman Method alongside an affirming, person-centered approach, and helps couples with communication, dating, sex, and intimacy. Liat Fruman, LCSW, is a sex and love therapist who works with relationships of any form, including couples recovering from an affair and partners exploring desire and sexuality. She is kink-positive and LGBTQIA+ affirming. Ilena Robbins, LMSW, also sees couples and families, and her easy, conversational style helps partners open up.
Your first session is usually together, so your therapist can hear how each of you sees things. Some therapists also meet with each partner once on their own. Then you'll set goals as a couple. Sessions are by telehealth, so you can join from the same couch or from two different places.

What if only one of us wants to come?
That's really common. A free consult is a low-pressure way for a hesitant partner to meet the therapist. If your partner isn't ready, individual therapy focused on the relationship can still help.
Can we join from different places?
Yes. Partners can join from the same room or from separate devices, which helps with busy schedules or long-distance relationships.
Does insurance cover couples therapy?
Sometimes. Many plans only cover couples sessions when they're part of treating one partner's mental health condition. We can help you check your benefits before you start.
Do you work with LGBTQIA+ and non-traditional relationships?
Yes. We work with couples and relationships of every form and structure, in an affirming, judgment-free space.
What if we're thinking about breaking up?
Therapy can help you decide with clarity instead of in the middle of a fight. And if you do decide to separate, it can help you do it with less damage, especially if you share kids, a home, or friends.
What if things feel unsafe at home?
If there's violence or fear in the relationship, couples therapy isn't the right first step. Individual support is safer. You can reach the National Domestic Violence Hotline 24/7 at 1-800-799-7233, and in an emergency, call 911.
