FINDING YOUR STARTING POINT

Is this you?

  • Someone you love died, and everyone else seems to have moved on while you're still in it.

  • Grief shows up out of nowhere: a song, a holiday, a text you can't send anymore.

  • Your relationship with the person was complicated, and now your feelings are too.

  • A diagnosis or chronic illness took away the version of your life you were counting on.

  • A breakup, divorce, or friendship ending feels like a loss nobody lets you grieve.

  • Your life doesn't look the way you pictured, and you can't quite name why you feel so heavy.

  • You're caring for someone who is sick, and grieving them while they're still here.

How we help

Grief isn't only about death, and it doesn't follow a neat set of stages or a deadline. It can come from losing a person, a relationship, your health, a pregnancy, a job, or simply the future you imagined. Most people don't call those things grief, which can leave you wondering why you feel so stuck. Naming it is often the first step toward making room for it.

Our clinicians draw on CBT, DBT skills, psychodynamic therapy, and interpersonal approaches to help you work through sadness, anger, guilt, numbness, and the mixed feelings that come with complicated losses. We'll also help with the practical side: getting through anniversaries and holidays, handling what other people say, and figuring out how to carry the loss forward without it running your life.

In the first few sessions, you'll talk about what you lost, what it's been like since, and what support you have around you. You set the pace. There's no pressure to tell the whole story at once. Sessions are by telehealth, so you can join from wherever you feel most comfortable.

What it costs

Sessions are $75 with our supervised clinicians-in-training, who both accept Aetna. If you're paying privately, we send a superbill every month so you can use your out-of-network benefits, and many PPO plans pay back part of each session. Ask us during your free consult.

Frequently asked questions

Can I come to therapy for grief if no one died?

Yes. A breakup, divorce, estrangement, infertility, a diagnosis, a career ending, or a life that turned out differently than you hoped can all bring real grief. If it feels like a loss to you, it's worth talking about.

Is it normal to still be grieving months or years later?

Yes. There's no deadline on grief, and it often changes shape over time rather than disappearing. If it's making it hard to sleep, work, connect with people, or get through the day, that's a good reason to reach out.

Will I have to talk about the loss right away?

No. You decide what to share and when. Some people want to talk about the loss in the first session, and others start with how daily life feels right now. Both are completely fine.

What if I feel relief, anger, or guilt instead of sadness?

That's very common, especially after a long illness or a complicated relationship. Mixed feelings don't mean you're grieving wrong. Therapy is a place to sort through them without judgment.

What if I need help right now?

If you're in crisis or worried about your safety, call 911 or call or text the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. It's free and available 24/7.
